Happy

Happy (8″ x 8″)

It was inevitable that I would eventually work my way around to painting a pig. I think I will have to do another one that focuses more closely on the face. There is so much expression that I would like to capture, and I’m not sure that I’ve got it here. Stay tuned.

The Blue Door

It was nice to paint with a limited palette. I didn’t have to make so many decisions about what colours to use, just the tones and values. I like the simplicity and it was fun to focus on the textures surrounding the cat.

Prints of this (and many others) are available on Etsy.

A Mix of Sun and Clouds

A Mix of Sun and Clouds 8″ x 8″

I decided to do a quick landscape – no cows, chickens or other animals in this one. I wanted the focus to be on the dramatic sky and huge puffy clouds.

Loon

I had fun painting this loon. Lots to work on with all of the patterns and reflections. Not sure it’s a total success, but definitely good practice.

Black Cat

I decided to paint fur instead of feathers this time.

Crow #3

Crow (3) 8″ x 8″

Here is the last of the crows (for now). These paintings are available as prints on Etsy.

Crow #2

Crow (2) 8″ x 8″

I really enjoyed working on the first crow painting, so I decided to do a couple more. Here is # 2.

Crow #1

Crow 8″ x 8″

This is the time of the year when you see young crows learning to fly. They are so vulnerable – usually sitting helplessly on the ground until they figure it out. I watched one little guy get off the ground, only to slam into the side of a parked car. Kind of comical once I realized he was okay.
